2023: Why Small Business Matters.

Small businesses are the backbone of the American economy. They create jobs, drive innovation, and strengthen communities. But small businesses face a lot of challenges, including competition from big businesses, rising costs, and a lack of access to capital.

My name is Jim Vassar and I own and operate B Shutters and Blinds. I have a staff of local craftspeople and a sales team all from right here in Southern California. It's so important to support small businesses. When you buy from a small business, you're not just getting a product or service, you're also supporting a local job creator, an entrepreneur, and a member of your community.

Here are just a few of the reasons why supporting small businesses is important:

  • Small businesses create jobs. According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, small businesses create two out of every three new jobs in the United States. When you buy from a small business, you're helping to create jobs in your community.

  • Small businesses drive innovation. Small businesses are responsible for a significant amount of innovation in the United States. They're more likely to introduce new products and services than large businesses. When you buy from a small business, you're helping to support innovation.

  • Small businesses strengthen communities. Small businesses are an important part of the fabric of our communities. They provide a place for people to gather, they sponsor local events, and they donate to local charities. When you buy from a small business, you're helping to strengthen your community.

So next time you're out shopping, make a point of supporting a small business. You'll be glad you did.

Here are a few tips for supporting small businesses:

  • Shop locally. When you can, try to buy your goods and services from businesses that are located in your community.

  • Buy from businesses that are owned by minorities and women. These businesses often face additional challenges, so your support is especially important.

  • Become a regular customer. When you become a regular customer of a small business, you're showing them that you value their products or services. This can help them to grow and succeed.

  • Leave positive reviews. When you're happy with the products or services you've received from a small business, take a few minutes to leave a positive review online. This can help other people to discover the business and become customers.

By following these tips, you can help to make a difference in the lives of small business owners and the strength of your community. B Shutters and Blinds is proud to say that we're a local small business and we look forward to meeting you and your family.

Thank you,

Jim Vassar
