How to Clean Your Window Shutters.

Cleaning your window shutters is no easy task! Here is a brief article that will help to make it so much easier!

Cleaning window shutters can be a bit time-consuming, but it's definitely worth the effort. Interior window shutters tend to collect dust, dirt, and grime over time, which can make them look dull and unappealing.

Here's how you can clean your interior window shutters:

  1. Start by dusting off the shutters using a soft-bristled brush or a microfiber cloth. Make sure to remove as much dust as possible before moving on to the next step.

  2. Mix a solution of warm water and a mild detergent in a bucket. Dip a soft sponge or cloth into the solution and wring it out well. Until it's almost dry.

  3. Begin wiping down each individual slat, starting at the top and working your way down. Be sure to wipe both the front and back of each shutter louver to remove any built-up dirt or grime.

  4. Once you've cleaned all the shutter louvers, rinse your sponge or cloth in clean water and wring it out well. Go over each slat again to remove any remaining soap residue.

  5. If your shutters are particularly dirty or greasy, you may need to use a stronger cleaning solution. In this case, mix equal parts of vinegar and water in a spray bottle and apply it to the shutters. Allow the solution to sit for a few minutes before wiping it off with a clean cloth or sponge.

  6. Finally, use a dry cloth or paper towel to wipe down each slat and remove any excess moisture. Moisture can dampen the wood and cause it to warp or deform.

Following these steps should leave your interior window shutters looking clean and fresh. Depending on how often you clean them and how much dirt they collect, you may need to repeat this process every few months to keep them in good condition.
